HOW TO OBTAIN A HARDSHIP LICENSE

You will have to attend a hearing at the Department of Motor Vehicles, in two locations:

Gainesville DMV
2815 Northwest 13th Street
Suite 302
(352) 955-2031

 (Located in the Bank of America building near Sam's Club)

- DMV hours of operation: Monday thru Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

-­ The Gainesville office will conduct walk-in hearings, but they prefer that you call in advance and make an appointment.

- DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF TO THE HEARING.

You will need to bring the following:

  1. Lifetime Driving History
  2. Copy of DUI Ticket
  3. Proof of enrollment for DUI School (receipt from registration)
  4. Appropriate Fees

    5. ** If your license has been revoked by the court you will also need to bring the following:

  5. Judgment and Sentence
  6. Certificate of Completion of DUI School

FEE ESTIMATES FOR HARDSHIP LICENSE

  1. Administrative Suspension + Court Revocation $220.00
  2. Administrative Suspension Only $160.00
  3. Court Revocation Only $185.00
  4. Reinstatement of Hardship License After Court Conviction $ 70.00
